I’ve been into collecting different shades of nail polish lately. I just painted my nails “Raspberry Sorbetto” by Borghese (shown above). It’s a pretty & bright shade of pink. I got it for 2 dollars at Big Lots. Score! :)
I’ve never really been the type of girl who was naturally blessed with great nails - they are usually kept short because when they grow out they are very weak and bendable. If I ever wanted long nails - I’d have to go to a salon to get acrylics put on, which ultimately seemed to make my real nails way worse in the long run. Well, I’m on a mission to fix my nail problem and so far it’s been working.
My solution to having crappy nails:
- Apply Nailtiques Formula 2 once a day. When I first paint my nails, it goes on as a base coat and then after that I apply it on top of my color once a day. The downfall is that this clear lacquer is expensive, but it works like a miracle to keep my nails strong so I’ll deal.
- I always have a color of nail polish on my nails at all times because it helps keep them stronger. 2 coats.
- My top-coat of preference is Seche Vite. Also, a miracle. Apply it when the polish is still a bit wet.
- I apply Creative Nail Design Solar Oil to my cuticles and nails multiple times throughout the day when I remember. This conditions my cuticles and also helps my nails grow faster. I prefer this oil to others because it’s absorbed into my skin/cuticles more readily than others.
- Typically, I change my polish color about every 4-5 days and start the process all over again!
Also, it’s good to put lotion on throughout the day, too. Anything to hydrate your nails is a good thing especially in the winter months. I really need to work on pushing back my cuticles more effectively - but a trick is to soak your hands in warm water for about 10 minutes and then work on the cuticles. Two products that I heard work really well are Creative Nail Design Cuticle Remover and Posche’s AHA Cuticle Therapy, but I’ve yet to try them out.
I’ve been doing all of this for about 3 weeks now maybe, and my nails have grown a bit without breaking at all. I guess the key is to just have patience and keep up with the routine.
Oh, and don’t shake your nail polish to “mix it up” before you paint. This causes air bubbles and we wouldn’t want that now, would we?
